This year has been one for the books. Since 2020 seems to be the year of cooking in our own kitchens, so why not upgrade some items for yourself, friend, or family member this holiday season! Abby and Stacey each selected four Foodie must have items. Ranging from splurge worthy to less expensive but must have organization items for every functioning kitchen!
First on Abby’s list are these Lodge Cast Iron Pan Set. They are reasonably priced and come pre-seasoned and ready to use right out of the box. Easily wash them with just water and a rough sponge. If needed, you can use a tiny bit of soap to remove really stuck-on food. They are also heavy duty and can go directly from stovetop to oven. Foodie Fact: cooking with cast iron can actually increase the iron content of foods! Next on her list are reusable Stasher Bags — a great way to cut down on single-use plastic baggies. Abby also uses these BPA-Free Plastic Food Storage Containers with Lids to store all of her leftovers in the fridge. They are also great for dry goods in your pantry—think nuts, seeds, rice, beans, etc... The same top fits all of the bottoms regardless of size, and they stack beautifully for a fight-free tupperware drawer. Last on Abby’s list is a Microplane Grater, a true must have for any foodie on your list. These are most commonly used for zesting citrus, but also great for grating garlic, ginger, or even cheese to pack flavor directly into your favorite dish.
First up on Stacey’s list is a splurge worthy Le Creuset Dutch Oven. Stacey uses her dutch oven all year long, but especially in the fall and winter! It’s great for browning meats and can go directly from stove to oven. The 3.5 qt size is perfect for making family meals like stews, soups, homemade sauces, and many of FTF’s “take-out-fake-out” recipes! Stacey also loves her Rosle Pizza Cutter and Garlic Press. These are her go-to holiday & housewarming gifts because they are high quality and will last forever! Both are heavy duty stainless steel and go right into the dishwasher!! Foodie tip: Stacey uses the pizza cutter not just for pizza, but also to cut pancakes and french toast into-bite size pieces for her young children! For the coffee lover on your list Stacey recommends this Frieling French Press. Stacey switched to French press coffee several years ago and hasn’t looked back! Foodie Fact: This french press has a double mesh filter which helps to filter out the cafestol in coffee, a compound in coffee which has been linked to increased cholesterol levels.
Keep following on Instagram and Facebook over the next few weeks to see how Abby & Stacey use their favorite kitchen items regularly in their own kitchens!
